Lead colorist of the Master Team at Arrojo Studio, James has "mastered" all aspects of hair.
After educating at Paul Mitchell Systems for several years on the West Coast, his calling brought him
to New York where he has recently styled for Victoria's Secret & the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition
and has stitched hair on many runways, hair shows, television and press outlets. Once James began
stitching hair in 2001 he quickly adapted it for his own style -- dreadlocks.
James brought to our
attention the dilemma of training unruly dreads and finding corporate-appropriate dreadlock styles.
He developed a method of wrapping HairThread around new hair growth to train hair locks into dreads
without wax, then removing the HairThread and stitching newer growth, until the dreads have grown to the
desired length. The look is very urban casual, but still workplace appropriate.
James is a constant inspiration to all with his endless creativity, earthy style and honed expertise.
